Each year, in Lézignan-Corbières, on May 1 rings the group of many rugby schools from the Great South of France to compete for the Lacans challenge. From U7 to U13s, the event brought together 580 players under a beautiful sun and a beautiful atmosphere.
A magnificent weather! And an atmosphere that goes with it. On this Thursday 1is May, volunteers from the FCL XIII rugby school were relieved to be able to organize the flagship event of the season: the Lacans challenge. A tournament dedicated to young shoots, from U7 to U13s, which, last year, could not be held due to detestable climatic conditions.

“This time, no less than 17 clubs, representing 67 teams and 580 players responded to our invitation”confided Marie Bres, one of the workers’ ankles of the demonstration with Jessyca Lemaître. Thanks to an army of 60 volunteers, the organization, as every year, was millimeter for Gaujac terrains to be permanently occupied. The opportunity to see the young shoots of the FCL evolve, of course, but also those of Carcassonne, Limoux, Ornaisons, Lagrasse, Saint-Martin-de-Crau, Costes XIII (Bouches-du-Rhône), Saint-Georges-d’Orques, Lion Coeur d’Hérault (Hérault), Toulouse Jules-Julien, Toulouse Olympique (Haute-Garonne) (Lot-et-Garonne), Albi, Lescures/Valdériès (Tarn), XIII Catalan, Baho, Opoul/Salses (Pyrénées-Orientales).

A success on the entire line where foodtrucks have made it possible, for the first time, to ensure the catering component for the delight of parents and accompanying guards estimated at almost 900. What amply confirms the rank of the challenge considered one of the most important in France and to recall, of course, the memory of Pierrot Lacans, rugby player in XIII and XV, praised for his sporting and human qualities, September 30, 1985.
