The head of American diplomacy Marco Rubio called on Thursday his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to tell him about the discussions in Paris on the conflict in Ukraine, stressing that “peace is possible” if each of the parties undertakes an agreement.

The Secretary of State “transmitted to his Russian counterpart the same message as the American team communicated to the Ukrainian delegation and our European allies in Paris: the president (Donald) Trump and the United States want this war to end and have now presented to all parties the main lines of a lasting peace”, according to a statement from the State Department.
“The encouraging reception reserved for Paris to the American framework shows that peace is possible if all the parties undertake to reach an agreement,” it was added from the same source.
First discussions on Ukraine involving Americans, Europeans and Ukrainians, took place Thursday in Paris, before a next meeting in London, when the cease-fire negotiations initiated by Washington trampled where Europeans want to impose their voice.
“We arrived in Paris with a goal in mind: to define concrete solutions to finish the war between Russia and Ukraine”, and to put an end to “the useless bloodbath”, had previously commented on Thursday on X the American Secretary of State, who participated in these exchanges alongside the emissary Steve Witkoff and General Kellogg.
Under the pressure of Washington, kyiv had accepted an unconditional cessation of fighting for 30 days, ignored by Russia.
At the same time, Donald Trump continues to criticize the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
