[Datajournalisme] Sangomar: record sale of nearly 4 million barrels


The Sangomar oil field, whose operation started in early 2025, has produced and marketed four cargoes to with a total volume of 3.8 million barrels, according to information relayed by the Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mines.

“The production of the field of Sangomar continues to testify of good performances with four cargoes (SAN027, SAN028, SAN029 and SAN030), for a total volume of 3.8 million barrels which have been removed and marketed on the international ”, can be read in a press release published on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Energy, Oil and Mines. According to the same source, production forecasts for the year 2025 of this oil deposit remain unchanged, at around 30.53 million barrels of crude oil.

The oil field of Sangomar, operated by Woodside, is located 100 kilometers off Dakar. The Ministry in charge of Energy also pointed out that the cargo (GTA-2025-001) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) of the Grand Turtle Ahmeyim project (GTA), developed by the British BP with the American Kosmos Energy, “was fully loaded on April 15, 2025 with a total export volume of 163,259 m3, or the equivalent of 3.71 million Mmbtu ”.

“This first cargo of GTA marks a decisive step, positioning and Mauritania as a exporting LNG country”, notes the press release, specifying that the operations of commissioning the facilities continue for a rise in production. “In the first quarter of 2025, a total volume of 548,078 normal cubic meters (NM3) of natural gas was marketed,” said the same source. The monthly production of April 2025 “is estimated at 219,809 nm3,” informs the services of the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines.
