The Geneva Criminal Court sentenced five men on Monday to prison terms ranging from 4.5 to 7.5 years in prison for their participation in two home-jackings committed in Geneva. The defendants will all be expelled from Switzerland once their sanction is purged.
The heaviest sentences were imposed on two brothers living in Vaulx-en-Velin, in the suburbs of Lyon. They were found guilty of having, one evening in February 2023, attacked an elderly couple at their home in Cartigny (GE), with the help of a fellows arrested in France.
The elder of the brothers received 7.5 years in prison, the youngest was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Their fault is very important, underlined the president of the court when reading the judgment. The 56-year-old Franco-Portuguese, considered the instigator of the two home jackings, was inflicted a sentence of 6 years in prison.
The second home-jacking took place in Geneva, in May 2021. A young man had been surprised in his room by the emergence of two men who had stolen 12,000 francs.
