After the hacking of data from the Ministry of Employment and the CNSS, several sites of Moroccan ministries were inaccessible this weekend and Monday morning, leaving new cyberattacks fear.
According to the first information shared by the experts of cybersecurityit would be an attack by Disputed service denial (DDOS). This type of attack is to send multiple requests in order to hinder the website capacity to manage requests and block its operation. The idea being to bypass the protections in place following the failure of data hacking.
The attack was claimed by a group of Algerian hackers baptized “DDOS54”who declares that he has launched a “major campaign against the sites of the Moroccan government”, as a “firm response to digital violations” attributed to Moroccan hackers. This campaign, which is to last 15 days, “aims to paralyze the electronic services of the Moroccan government, with repeated attacks,” said the same source.
According to the latest information available, websites of Digital transition ministries and Relations with Parliament were restored, while those of l’Agriculture and l’Education nationale are always inaccessible.
However, sources close to the administration claim that access has been voluntarily suspended for these sites as part of a prevention and maintenance operation. In the meantime, many of them were able to reopen access to the public.
Unlike the previous attack, no data leakage has not been claimed at this stage for the target targets.
