China denounced countries on Monday that practice “appeasement” with regard to the United States in trade negotiations on American customs duties. She warned that she “firmly opposes” to any agreement that affects her interests.

(Keystone-ATS) “Appeal will not bring peace and compromise will not be respected,” a spokesperson for Chinese Chinese trade spokesman.
-Beijing “firmly opposes that any party will reach an agreement to the detriment of the interests of China,” he added. “If such a situation occurs, China will never accept it and resolutely take reciprocal countermeasures”.
President Donald Trump imposed customs duties up to 145% on a large number of products imported from China, which brings total taxes up to 245% in some cases, for example for electric vehicles. Beijing replied by its own 125% tax on American products.
“Selfish interests”
The trade partners of the United States are struck by a 10%floor surcharge, while the entry into force of much higher customs duties was suspended by Mr. Trump on April 9 for 90 days, most of the countries concerned. Many of these have started discussions with Washington.
