Around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, the police were called in reinforcement by the municipal police to assist them on this dispute which was held at the level of a merry -go -round. “Upon their arrival, the police found that individuals were continuing and clashed physically,” explains the police headquarters. Reinforcements are then asked.
After “a period of return to calm”, the situation has again degenerated “between the parties with several brawls in various places in the fair.” To “disperse the crowds” and “be able to intervene on the brawls”, the police then used tear gas.
“The massive arrival of reinforcements and the eviction of groups of young vehements made it possible to put an end to public order and no other incident was identified during the evening,” said the Paris police headquarters. The Throne Fair was able to close its doors at the usual time.
A “very sustained” frequentation
The fights are not uncommon at the Throne Fair. During the previous edition, incidents had enamelled the event. “The workforce of the police headquarters, in coordination with those of the municipal police department of the city of Paris, are strongly involved in the security of this 2025 edition of the throne fair both inside the site and outside,” said the Paris police headquarters.
The workforce is mobilized on different missions: “Anti-Department, the fight against band phenomena, vigipirate ‘Emergency attack’, and the traffic police”.
The Paris police prefecture adds that the securing system implemented has been adapted due to “very sustained attendance, much higher than 2023 and 2024”.
Thus, the police “ensure patrols, motorized and pedestrians, dynamic and dissuasive, which can be reinforced according to evolution, in particular to ensure the prevention of brawls”, specifies the Paris police headquarters. “They are also mobilized in the evening in support of security agents to ensure the good evacuation of the premises.” The prefecture also specifies relying on the video-protection.
