It is the story of an undivided domination, the end of which is constantly predicted and constantly pushed. At the end of the Second War, there are eighty years ago, the hegemony of the dollar was established against the backdrop of the military and economic triumph of the States. Since then, every decade has been entitled to the announcement of his death.

At the end of 1960, with the of John F. Kennedy in the American election, the financial markets feared that the president was not too digging the deficit. It took the intervention of central banks to get out of the crisis.

A decade later, in 1971, when the Bretton Woods agreements are shattered, putting an end to the convertibility-gold of the dollar, the specialists predicted the slow decline in the greenback. Again, wrongly. In the 1980s, the Japanese yen seemed an unstoppable competitor to the American currency. Then, in 1999, the emergence of the euro seemed to create a credible alternative: twenty-five years later, if the single currency is the second most used in the world, it remains three times less than the dollar. But now the violent financial tremors caused by Donald Trump rest the question: will the Dollar King fall from his throne?
