The Canon IXUS 285 was announced at the same time as the IXUS 175 and 180 on the occasion of the 2016 CES. This entry-level and particularly compact model does not include a CCD sensor, but rather a BSI CMOS sensor of 20 million pixels coupled with a 12x zoom equivalent to a 25-300 mm f/3.6-7. Its characteristics are basic: Full HD video, Wi-Fi, NFC and 461,000 points.

The Canon IXUS 285 offers everything that is most basic: automated photo modes, a standard screen, a full HD video mode at 30 I/s. Its compactness and simplicity of use are its main assets. The rest is rather commonplace, both in terms of image quality and the responsiveness of the device. If you have a few more euros more to spend, prefer the Sony HX60 or the SX710 HS Canon, certainly thicker, but more versatile.
