A pile -up involving eleven motorcycles caused the death of two pilots and seriously injured a third on Monday during a race in the British Supersport championship.
Briton Owen Jenner and New Zealander Shane Richardson were killed in this accident on the first lap at the Oulton Park, in Cheshire, in the northwest of England.
According to the organizer, Motorsport Vision Racing (MSVR), Jenner succumbed to a “catastrophic injury to the head”. Richardson, “seriously” hit in the chest, died before arriving at the hospital. They were aged 21 and 29.
A third pilot, the British Tom Tunstall (47) was also transferred to the hospital. He presents “important back and abdomen injuries,” added MSVR.
Carl Harris, Max Morgan, Cameron Hall, Freddie Barnes and Morgan McLaren-Wood were taken care of for minor injuries.
Lewis Jones, Corey Tinker and George Edwards came out unscathed.
The race has been suspended and the rest of the program canceled.
The British Supersport and a category league lower than the Brisith Superbike, British reference championship for track motorcycles.
