In Rouyn-Noranda, an important fire completely ravaged a house near Route 117 not far from the airport.
The fire that started outside the house also affected other adjacent buildings and vehicles, according to the Rouyn-Noranda fire safety service.
Thirty firefighters fought the flames for several hours. A tank airplane from the SOPFEU Damped water to eliminate the risk of fire spread in the forest.
Emergency services were called around 3:30 p.m. to intervene on the scene.

We had additional information that the fire would have spread to a garage, then spread to a building of the main residence, then to vehicles, then thereafter to the forest
explains Stéphane Royer, director of fire safety in the city of Rouyn-Noranda.
On arrival [des pompiers] On the scene, there was indeed an observation of the spread [de l’incendie]. The building was completely evacuated when we arrived […] There is no danger for the lives of these people
he added.
An investigator of the Rouyn-Noranda fire service went there to try to understand the causes of the fire.
Route 117 had to be closed for several hours at the height of km 602 for the purposes of the intervention.
