The ONE UI 7 update had to bring refreshing innovations … but some owners of Galaxy S24 feel like having received a battery vacuum cleaner instead.
After months of waiting and multiple postpones, Samsung finally deployed One UI 7, its large update based on Android 15. Problem: since its installation, users of Galaxy S24 and other recent models note a free fall in the autonomy of their device.
Indeed, on the official forums of Samsung and Reddit, The testimonies are multiplying. A user of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 says that his battery went from 45 % to 20 % at the end of the day after update. Same bell sound with owners of S24, who see their device suckling the grip much faster than before. However, others say they do not notice any change, even an improvement. Enough to sow doubt about the real extent of the problem.
Update or flattening batteries
With its new features (live notifications, now bar on the locked screen, fluid animations), One UI 7 is an upheaval for the Samsung ecosystem. But this transformation has a cost: the more greedy system would more request the processor and memory. The imposing size of the update and the repeated deployment delays also leave suspect unresolved bugs, potentially linked to energy management.
Faced with discontent, the community offers solutions. Some recommend emptying the apps cache via Recovery mode, or waiting for 14 days until the AI adjusts resources. Others plead for a complete reset, a radical method, but effective according to some testimonies. Samsung, for its part, remains discreet, although a correction is expected in the May 2025 update.
There remains an unknown: these concerns would only affect a minority of users, the most active on social networks. With millions of updated devices, Samsung seems to avoid a generalized crisis. But for those who must now track down USB-C sockets as treasures, one UI 7 looks more like a false good news. Unless time, or a fix, is better to arm a good external battery.
