Last week ended with good news for Samsung users. After months of waiting, we were finally able to announce the launch of the Android 15 and One UI 7 update. Users in the Galaxy S24 range and the two Flip Galaxy Fold6 and Flip6 smartphones received the long -awaited update. At least some users. The first rumors had already appeared this weekend, and now it’s a certainty. Only a few days after the launch of the update, Samsung shoots on the rope and stops its distribution worldwide. What led to this decision?
Discovery of a critical bug
Like most smartphones manufacturers, Samsung distributes Android updates by waves. For example, first at 1% of users, then 10%, then everyone. This method avoids overloading servers when millions of users want to download several gigabytes at the same time. And even if the first users note an error with the update, the manufacturer can react quickly and limit the damage. This is obviously what happened at Samsung.
Discussions on forums indicated an interruption of update from the weekend. This Monday, the famous Leaker Universeice also confirms on the X platform that Samsung suspended the update. He writes:
Sudden! After the Korean firmware of the Galaxy S24 series has been updated, a serious bug was detected, which led to the suspension of the update plan in all other countries, including China.- Universeice via x
Thus, Samsung would have discovered a serious bug in the update and would subsequently have paused the deployment. A little later, he also wants to know the reason for stopping the update:
The Reason for the Delay in the Galaxy S24 Push is that Users of the Official Version of One Ui7 of the Korean S24 Series found that “They Could Not Be Unlocked Normally in Some Cases”. Samsung urgently examined the withdrawal of firmware in other countries. Have you ever met a bug where your Galaxy phone can sometimes not be unlocked?- Universeice via x
A technical bug would prevent users from unlocking their smartphone as usual in certain situations. The problem was found in Korea. On the other hand, there is no report on this problem in Germany. There is therefore no reason to worry if you have already set up the update. Have you ever installed the Android 15 update and encountered problems?
Wait for longer
Samsung did not make a public declaration on stopping update. Thus, we do not yet know when the deployment will resume. Usually, it takes a few days to a few weeks before a new version is ready to be published. In all cases, users should expect delays. The calendar mentioned for other models should also be affected.
To check if the update is available again for your device, you can go to the settings, “software update” and “Download and install”.
