United States: 6 dead in the crash of an airplane in New York State

New drama in the American sky: a small plane crashed on Saturday in New York, killing six people, according to American media.

This accident, which occurred near Copake, is the last in a series of air disasters: Thursday, the fall of a helicopter in the Hudson river cost the lives of six people; Friday, the crash of a light plane in Florida left three dead.

The American Transport Safety Agency (NTSB), which is investigating the fatal accident on Saturday, said in a press point that the plane was carrying six people, but did not directly confirm the number of deaths on Sunday.

The “New York Times” reported that the six people on board lost their lives, citing a family member.

The victims, who went to a religious holiday, are Michael Groff, pilot and neurosurgeon, his wife Joy Saini, surgeon, their two children and the partners of the latter, according to the New York Times.

The plane was “compressed, distorted and embedded in the soil” under the effect of the impact, described during the Toudd Inman press point, responsible for the NTSB.

“During the approach at Columbia County Airport, the pilot reported a missed approach,” said Albert Nixon, an investigator at the NTSB.

According to Mr. Inman, visibility decreased before the accident.

The pilot was experienced and the plane cockpit had been recently renovated.
