In recent days, Chinese networks have been shaken by a rumor launched from South Korea: several leading K-pop groups have been invited to perform in the largest Chinese cities as part of a joint tour organized by China Media Group (CMG).
According to this information, the main Chinese public broadcaster has considered a series of giant concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Chengdu. Cities capable of accommodating up to 30,000 fans per date, enough to thrill the whole fandom

The line-up mentioned left dreamer: BTS, Seventeen, Stray Kids, Treasure, Exo and other flagship groups of the K-Pop scene. In short, a cast worthy of a Hallyu XXL festival which would have marked a historic turning point.
Some Korean media even ensured having seen official documents sent by the CMG to local partners. These letters would have mentioned the participation of artists in a Sino-Korean tour planned for the end of the year.
Faced with this rumor swelling day by day, the fans began to believe it. Especially since China has maintained a certain distance from the K-POP since 2016, making the idea of a return in force all the more symbolic.

But this Wednesday, the Asia-Pacific Office of the CMG put an end to speculation. In a brief but firm press release, the public broadcaster categorically denied allegations. “It’s not true”said CMG. “No concert is planned, no invitation has been sent, no collaboration between Korea and China is being studied. »»
The group insisted that no K-Pop tour was in preparation. No official project would have been discussed, and no Korean group would have been asked to go on stage in China this year.
In other words, the long-awaited return of K-POP on Chinese soil will not materialize immediately. For CMG, the page still seems far from turned.
Do you think China can soon reopen its doors to the Hallyu wave?
