As the release of the new album by Slaughter to Prevail approach, Grizzlysinger Alex Terrible expressed himself on his origins, his love for Florida, and his happiness to see extreme music gain in popularity and unravel in the dominant current, in an interview with Metal Hammer.
Alex Terrible : “This underground music becomes mainstream, and I love it”
A few months before the release of Grizzlyscheduled for July 18 via Soumerian Records, Alex Terrible shared his enthusiasm in the face of the evolution of extreme metal. Noting that groups like Knocked Loose and Turnstile now invest major festivals such as Coachella et Bonnaroothe Slaughter to Prevail frontman said with pride: “This underground music becomes like pop – mainstream. I love it, because my goal has always been to make this music known to the general public.”
A feeling reinforced by the impressive ascent of Slaughter to Prevail, now considered one of the most influential groups of the Deathcore scene, with more than a million monthly listeners on Spotify. After his noticed performance at Hellfest In 2024, the group is preparing to take a new step with the release of Grizzlyan ambitious album both by its production and by its words.
Grizzly : a powerful and personal album
Accompanied by his musicians, Alex Terrible took advantage of his installation in Florida to record Grizzly. The album is a reflection of their musical evolution, integrating more melodic elements while retaining the characteristic intensity of the group. The last single, Russian Grizzly In Americaillustrates this dynamic with a spectacular clip featuring an animatronic bear and the UFC fighter Alexander Volkov.
-In a previous press release, Alex confided: “I think this is the best album we have never written. We have put a lot of efforts in it. We really put our souls in these songs.” The singer also evokes a more thoughtful approach: “In the past, we were always in a hurry to finish the albums. This time, we took our time, we worked carefully on each piece so that everything was exactly as we wanted.”
