Very discreet on the track for the moment, Somkiat Chant will have evolved far in the ranking in Qatar again, but continues to work hard to get closer to other beginners.
SOMKIAT CHANTRA Knows of the beginnings in MotoGP more complicated than the other Rookies Ai Ogura and Fermín Aldeguer. If the Japanese and the Spaniard benefit from a more efficient machine with the Aprilia and the Ducati, the Thai encounter more difficulties with its Honda. Currently ninth and 14th in the championship, they have each already made shine, while Chantra evolves very discreetly at the bottom of the ranking.
However, even if the difficulties are more numerous for him, he does not let go and continues his learning of the RC213V and the queen category. Unlike many other pilots, he has spent the finish line of each of the eight races he has been contested and has dropped very little in trials.
In Qatar, however, he was the victim of a big fall on Friday, when he worked on his turnover, his main weak point for the moment. Qualified in the 22nd and last row, he concluded the race Sprint on Saturday in 20th position and that of Sunday in 18th place.
The only pilot of the grid not to have scored points yet (except Jorge Martín, who started his season this weekend), Chantra Perses and hopes that the European Grands Prix, who arrive from the next meeting in two weeks, will be more favorable to him.
“It was a difficult race, even if I felt some improvements on the motorcycle compared to yesterday”he explained. “We work hard to continue to progress and, step by step, we get there. I can’t wait to be in Jerez and start European races. »»
