After private tests today Tuesday, the program for the 48th edition of the 24 hours Motos, the first round of the EWC world Championship, will officially start tomorrow Wednesday April 16 with a parade in downtown Le Mans, for the second consecutive year.
The Departure will be given at 3 p.m. from the Bugatti circuit, and will lead the competitors at Place des Jacobins, after having crossed several emblematic places of the city. The passage of the machines under the Tunnel of the city Plantagenet will be a highly anticipated moment of the spectators who will then go to Place des Jacobins for an official presentation of the Teams and a signing session. A great way to share unforgettable moments to start this week of competition in the world famous city.
The next day, THURSDAYit is this time on the Bugatti circuit that the action will take place, with the first free tests during a session of 110 minutes for all the pilots of the World Endurance Championship, then the first qualifying tests, organized by the colors of the armbands that the pilots participate in: blue, yellow, red, or green. This first “qualifying” makes it possible to establish a temporary starting grid thanks to the average of the two best times of each trio (or quartet in the superstock category).
In 2024, the Yamaha Yzf – R1 #1 of the Yart – Yamaha had signed the Pole Provisional position thanks to an average time of 1’34.708, before finishing the race in third position. In Superstock, the National Motos Honda #55 distinguished itself in 1’37.177.
Finally, an hour and a half of night tests at night, from 8:30 p.m., will allow the pilots to get used to night driving. These tests are also useful for validating the lights and light benchmarks on the machines, and in particular to allow timekeepers to clearly identify the motorcycle of their team when it passes in the straight line of the stands. In 2024, the Suzuki #12 of Yoshimura served Motul had distinguished itself by making the best time (1’36.237).
Fridayfrom 10:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., the last qualifying trials will always be done by Brassard color, to try to improve the chronometric performance of the day before. The classification is always done according to the average of the two best times carried out by the trio (or the quartet in the superstock category). This is how the order of the starting grid will be established. A first hierarchy will be released, but will probably be called into question several times during the race.
The annexed races will then liven up in the afternoon, then come the time (7:00 p.m.) to discover the stands and the paddock, the animation of the mechanical show and the concert…
SATURDAYthe stress will gradually invade the Bugatti circuit over the hours, first with a Warm Up from 10:30 am to 11:15 am in which any blunder will be prohibited, and following which the team managers of each team will announce the names of the three pilots (four for the superstock category) who will participate in the race.
