SElon sources cited by Swit Al Maghribthis conviction follows a complaint filed by Najim Bensami, former prosecutor general of the king near the court of appeal of Casablanca. The case also led to prosecution against several members of the Jerando family, arrested in early March in Casablanca.
According to declarations of the deputy prosecutor, Jamal Lahroure, five people, including a 15 -year -old teenager, were presented on 1is March 2025 before the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ), as part of an investigation into defamation, threats and blackmail, committed via email applications like WhatsApp. The initial complaint came from a woman claiming to have been harassed, with her family, through this.
The investigations revealed that the accused had facilitated Jerando’s actions by providing him with Moroccan telephone numbers and the associated codes, used to create accounts on social networks. These accounts would have been used to utter threats, distribute defamation videos and deal with current legal files. The technical analyzes confirmed these links, reinforced by the reception of money transfers in connection with extortion operations.
The respondents were continued for the complicity of contempt of constitutional institutions and a lawyer, dissemination of false allegations affecting privacy, threats, and participation in cyberbullying acts. They were placed in detention pending their judgment.
On March 10, justice, however, decided to release Jerando’s sister, Jamila, as well as her minor daughter, after a week of detention, under conditions.
