Morocco has resolutely part of a proactive approach to promote a healthy sporting environment and in accordance with international standards, said the Minister of National Education, preschool and sports, Mohammed Saad Berrada on Monday April 14.
According to the Minister, who presided over the opening ceremony of the first forum of African National Anti -Doping Organizations (ONAD), organized on Monday and Tuesday in the Moroccan capital, the progress of this high -level meeting, fruit of exemplary collaboration between the World Anti -Doping Agency (AMA), its Africa Office and the Moroccan Anti -Doping Agency (AMAD), constitutes “the best illustration of our collective commitment to preserve ethics and African “.
The approach advocated in the matter by Morocco is part of the orientations of SM The King Mohammed VI, who, in his letter addressed on the occasion of the holding of the national foundations of sport organized in October 2008, had forcefully recalled that “the use of doping substances was a phenomenon foreign to our traditions and our culture, prohibited to law and contrary to sports ethics”, said the Minister.
The organization of this forum also constitutes the logical continuation of a strong and constant commitment, said Mr. Berrada, recalling that from the year 2007, Morocco ratified the International Convention of UNESCO against doping in sport, then, in 2013, that of the Council of Europe, thus strengthening its legal and institutional framework in the matter.
“These memberships reflect a strategic choice of the Moroccan government, that of a clean sport, respectful of the values of ethics, equity and public health,” he continued. He stressed, in this sense, that “it is the responsibility of all the actors of the sports world to mobilize and to spare no effort to preserve in sport its cardinal values that are perseverance, mutual respect, integrity and the loyal quest for excellence, so many values which are today seriously jeopardized by various drifts”.
“Doping represents a particularly worrying scourge which, not only compromises the health of athletes, but also undermines the very foundations of the sports ideal that are competitive equity and the credibility of performance,” he said.
For her part, the president of the Moroccan Antidopage Agency, Fatima Abouali, indicated that the Amad now plays a catalyst role in regional dynamics in favor of sports integrity, stressing that as a reflection space, this two -day forum offers the opportunity to share the different experiences and build solid bridges between African ONADs.
Placed under the sign of cooperation, she underlined, “this meeting embodies our common ambition to build together a fairer and more equitable sport”. According to Ms. Abouali, the AMAD has committed with determination, since its creation, to establish a rigorous national framework of anti -doping, stating that through training, awareness campaigns and strategic partnerships, the agency has been able to create a constructive dialogue with the Ministry of Sport, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee, Federations, sports, universities, universities.
As for the secretary general of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM), Abdellatif Idmahama, he stressed that the African ONAD Forum is an opportunity to develop South-South cooperation advocated by SM King Mohammed VI. He expressed, on this occasion, the commitment of the CNAME to continue working for a clean sport and society.
On the menu of the debates, several panels focused among other things on “the strengthening of the role of athletes”, “regional solidarity”, “win-win cooperation”, “the next stages for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco-2025”, “The process of implementing code 2021”, “The opportunities for code 2027” and “Innovation in anti-doping: what are the next steps? ». This conclave brings together the representatives of national anti -doping organizations of the continent around a common objective, namely to strengthen regional cooperation, allow to share good practices and promote a harmonized and effective fight against doping in Africa.
This unprecedented meeting also constitutes a strategic platform for exchange, dialogue and capacity building, in the context of continuous efforts for an integrated and clean African sport.
