Organized by the magazine “Women of Morocco”, this emblematic event, which continues until May 11, celebrates a quarter of a century of highlighting the Moroccan caftan, in all its richness, its diversity and its deep cultural anchoring.
This anniversary edition particularly highlights the Moroccan Sahara, offering the public a poetic immersion in the world of dunes, oases and ancestral know-how, in particular through an exhibition dedicated to fashion and traditional jewelry professions.
On this occasion, Moha Er-Rich, director of heritage preservation and innovation at the State Secretariat for Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, stressed that this edition aims to make a precious heritage shine.
“It is a traditional habit that has experienced an evolution throughout history. The craftsmen of the southern provinces came to exhibit Sahrawi crafts and their clothing, as part of a continuous action for preserving and enhancing the national intangible heritage, “he said.
And to add that an official label, relating to the Moroccan caftan, has been recently filed in the strengthening of the commitments of the State Secretariat in terms of safeguarding craft know-how.
-For its part, Ichrak Moubsit, director of the magazine “Women of Morocco”, praised the richness and diversity of the program proposed this year, shedding light on Moroccan creativity in all its forms, recalling that this anniversary edition constitutes a real immersion in the world of fashion professions and ornamental traditions of the south of Morocco.
“We wanted to organize an exhibition dedicated to the know-how of the Moroccan Sahara, in particular the trades related to jewelry and traditional habit, in order to introduce the general public to artisanal treasures often overlooked,” she said, adding that this approach aims to preserve and transmit a rare and precious heritage, passionately carried by Moroccan craftsmen.
Unmissable meeting of the national cultural calendar, the Caftan Week 2025 also offers masterclasses, collection of caftans, meetings between creators and a large final parade bringing together renowned Moroccan designers, all committed to making Caftan shine on the international scene.
By this eclectic programming, the event is an ode to the transmission, creativity and plural identity of Morocco, where tradition and modernity intertwine to tell the story of a clothing symbol of timeless elegance.
