The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) published this global 2025 world report on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in new York, entitled “A question of choice: people and possibilities in the era of artificial intelligence”.
This new relationship emphasizes the crucial role of freedom of choice in human development and analyzes how artificial intelligence can strengthen this freedom by offering new prospects for evolution.
One of the main announcements of this report concerns Morocco, which crosses an important course: for the first time, the kingdom exceeds the 0.700 threshold at the Human Development Index (HDI), thus accessing the category of high human development countries according to UNDP criteria. A performance that illustrates a sustained dynamic of growth and a deep transformation of living conditions in the country.
This progression is attributed to major advances in the three fundamental pillars of human development: ** Health, education and the standard of living **. Indicators such as life expectancy at birth or average schooling is clearly improving, confirming a constant positive trend.
-The report underlines that this evolution results from public policies oriented towards the strengthening of human capital, carried by the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. An orientation which aims to guarantee sustainable and inclusive growth.
Another positive point: the progressive decline in the index of gender inequality (GII), a sign of an improvement in matters of gender equality. However, the UNDP recalls that efforts are necessary to reduce maternal mortality, increase women’s participation in decision -making spheres and improve their access to education and employment.
Finally, Morocco is now among countries with low incidence of multidimensional poverty, which confirms the advances carried out in terms of human development in recent years.
Globally, the report draws up a more nuanced observation: the progression of human development marks the step, especially because of the persistent sequelae of the 2020-2021. The UNDP warns that if this slowness becomes structural, the development objectives could be pushed by several decades.
