In a speech at the end of the national of meteorological and climatic services held under the theme “Climate services and early alerts: towards a strengthening of resilience”, Mr. Baraka stressed that in a context marked by growing climatic challenges, it is imperative to place users at the heart of the approach, by associating them as soon as the tools design.

This logic of co-construction is the key to guaranteeing the relevance, appropriation and concrete usefulness of the services deployed, in particular in the sectors such as water management, agriculture, health, infrastructure and regional planning, he explained.

Mr. Baraka also emphasized the importance of taking advantage of innovative technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), satellite systems and digital platforms, in order to contribute to the improvement of the precision, speed and accessibility of forecasts, calling for strengthening synergies between institutions, to ensure better integration of early services and climate services public policies.

Furthermore, the Minister noted that the state climate network, as a strategic national infrastructure, constitutes a fundamental pillar to ensure continuous observation, the quality of the data and the reliability of the produced, Sine qua non for informed and effective decision -making.

This day, which saw the participation of political decision-makers, technical and scientific experts, as well as socio-economic partners, was an opportunity to highlight the role of emerging technologies, AI and digital transformation in improving the precision, reliability and accessibility of climate services.

The National Day of Meteorological and Climatic Services, celebrated on May 5, is an opportunity to highlight ’s commitment to a proactive approach to climate risks, while promoting reinforced collaboration at all levels to meet the challenges posed by climate .
