The United States has expressed interest in investing in the most ambitious gas pipeline in Africa, which aims to connect Morocco to Nigeria. This is what reveals Business Insider Africawhich quotes the words of the Nigerian Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, relayed by the local press.
According to the same source, Minister Edun revealed this American ambition during spring 2025 meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank group who recently concluded in Washington, DC
As a reminder, the pipeline project extends over 6,800 kilometers with a transport capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and aims to connect West Africa to Europe via Morocco. The total cost of this project, which will link 13 countries, is estimated at more than 25 billion dollars and will prepare the region for the economy of green hydrogen.
Note that the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development has just launched, last Wednesday, an appeal for demonstration of interest concerning the national gas network, in order to reach the city of Dakhla to connect, later, to the Atlantic African Gassuc (Nigeria-Morocco).
