Four new films have been announced. Among them, “Resurrection” of the Chinese filmmaker Bi Gan which becomes the ultimate pretender to the Palme d’Or of the 2025 edition.

“With the following films, the official selection of the 78th Cannes Film Festival is final”announces the press release published Thursday by the organizers of the largest world meeting in the 7th art which starts on May 13. With Resurrection, Science fiction feature film, the young Chinese filmmaker Bi Gan is now in the running for the Palme d’Or which will be awarded by a jury chaired by the French actress Juliette Binoche. The addition brings to 22 the list of films in competition.
13 days, 13 nights from Martin Bourboulon (The three musketeers) will be projected out of competition. Adapted from the book 13 days, 13 nights in the hell of Kabul of Commander Mohammed Bida (Editions Denoël)the film recounts the perilous evacuation of the French Embassy in 2021, the last still open when the Taliban took the capital, to everyone’s surprise, on August 15. Roschdy Zem, Lyna Khoudri and Sidse Babett Knudsen share the poster of this fiction inspired by real facts. The feature film is expected in French theaters on June 27.
The Six Billion Dollar Man of the American Eugène Jarecki, The documentary on the founder of Wikileaks and whistleblower Julian Assange will be presented in a special session.
