Two Quebec restaurants among the best 100 in the country

The organization Canada’s 100 revealed its list of the country’s most meritorious addresses on Monday evening. This annual award honors those “who excelled in 2024, which in fact good choice of catering for today”. A jury made up of 160 criticisms of restaurants, chefs, restaurateurs and industry professionals established this list according to the quality of the menu, service, wine cellar and decor.

After a 60th place year, the famous restaurant tranière³ climbed this time until the 13th position in the . “The experience is perfectly orchestrated from start to finish: a culinary journey in three chapters and 15 small plates”, praises the Canada’s 100 Best website to describe the chic restaurant of Old Quebec.

Under the leadership of chef François-Emmanuel Nicol, tranie³ had won the title of the restaurant of the year at the Laurels of Quebec gastronomy of 2024. She is not among the names this year, but could well be granted a Michelin in mid-May.

Restaurant Le Melba

In 98th position is Melba, a small inspiration table in the Saint -Sauveur district, in Quebec. “Opened in 2022, this restaurant with 36 seats with clean lines, inspired by Art Deco, offers inventive French cuisine based on seasonal Quebec ,” said Canada’s 100 Best about this brand of Alexandra Roy chefs, Charles Provencher-Proulx and Guillaume St-Pierre. Melba is in competition for Lauriers this year.

Last year, the Nordic menu of chef Julien Masia had earned an 89th place at the Gastronomic Arvi. The Limoilou district table in Quebec has however slipped from the charts this time.

Many other awards

The national place in Canada’s 100 Best was allocated to the Ontario restaurant Pearl Morissette, located between Hamilton and Niagara Falls.

The Montrealer my rabbit took the second position, at the top of around twenty other restaurants in the Quebec metropolis. His co -owners Vanya Filipovic and Alex Landry also won the sommeliers of the year in duet.

In terms of restaurants, the violin – also from Montreal – who won honors.

Finally, the restaurateur and craftsman Patrice Demers – from the Montreal restaurant Sabayon – was crowned pastry chef of the year.

The best bars in Canada’s 100 Best will be unveiled next week. In 2024, the Jjacques (from the Saint-Roch district, in Quebec) and Bar 1608 (from Château Frontenac) had distinguished themselves in this list.
