This Thursday, the American television channel ESPN announced that legend Manny Pacquiao was going to get out of her retirement to play a world title.
Manny Pacquiao, 46, is expected to come out of almost four years of retirement to face Mario Barrios in July in Las Vegas, WBC title of Welters at stake, announced Thursday ESPN.
The Philippin boxer, which counts at its narcotic record twelve world titles in eight different categories of weight, has not officially risen to a ring since its defeat at points against Cuban Yordenis Ugas Ugas on August 21, 2021 in Las Vegas for the WBA belt of Welters. WBC authorizes a former world champion to ask for a title fight at stake when he leaves his retirement.
According to ESPN, Pacquiao should return to Las Vegas to face Barrios on July 19, the authorities of Nevada having already issued him an authorization to fight. After a career as a boxer during which he won 62 fights including 39 per Ko for 8 defeats and 2 draws, Pacquiao embarked on a political career in the Philippines.
For his part, Barrios (29 victories including 18 by Ko for 2 defeats) retained his WBC belt last November against his American compatriot Abel Ramos.
