Mick Schumacher could well be a serious pretender to return to Formula 1 with the brand new Cadillac stable from 2026.
In Miami, all the media shot focused on a possible agreement for the former Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez, very supported and experienced, with billionaire Carlos Slim also present at the team’s launch party.
However, Perez himself did not attend the ceremony on Saturday at Queen Miami Beach, not far from the circuit.
But what pilot ostensibly attended the Miami Grand Prix and the Cadillac event, about twenty minutes away? Mick Schumacher, here in pictures with his friend Esteban Ocon at the entrance to the paddock.
Conversations between the 26-year-old Alpine pilot in WEC and Cadillac took place this weekend, potentially ending the expectations of three years of Schumacher for a return to F1.
-Schumacher could be an option to become the teammate of Perez next year, if the American Colton Herta, one of the stars of the Indycar, fails to obtain a super F1 license.
To obtain one he must finish at least fourth this season. However, after four races, it is only eighth.
Schumacher’s uncle, Ralf, Michael’s younger brother, Mick’s father, was specifically questioned about the growing rumors concerning Cadillac.
“Basically, Mick is a pilot who has a fairly good experience in Formula 1 and who managed situations as well. Mick did not have easy life at Haas with Steiner, but his transition to WEC finally went very well, which is important.”
“What Cadillac needs is a pilot with whom you can build something, who does not crash and who has a team spirit.”
