Germany
Scheduled for 8 p.m. and finally there at 3 p.m. after an exchange with Spain, here is our first country in Big 5, I appointed Germany.
The staging was updated compared to the national final.
If the electric cello is always present, there is no longer any question of breaking it (fortunately!), But indeed to play it (that’s the goal!).
Tynna begins her performance perched on a huge boombox type 80s several meters high, before descending it during the song.
On her outfit, I do not invent anything, the liveblog of Eurovision describes it as follows: “Lara Croft in a Berlin rave in the heart of the largest warehouse in the world”!
Short and military boots, crop-top and gloves to the elbows, this is Tynna’s style while Abor plays the cello.
The aesthetics are raw, industrial, with baller written in large light letters. What to move Europe!
France
Ah, this is the moment we all expected. Louane’s passage, of course.
So what did the delegation reserved for us?
If it was necessary to describe performance in a word, it would undoubtedly be “sand”.
The scene becomes a hourglass, the time flowing grain after grain which come to fall into a circle on stage, in the middle of which is also Louane, standing, barefoot, dressed in a black lace dress. She will not leave this circle where the sand falls without discontinuing, but kneels at a time to give to reveal a mirror on the ground. The sand then starts to move, to keep up with the rhythm of a heartbeat. Then a last wide plan … and it’s the end.
“Breathtaking performance,” says LiveBlog.
We only ask to see, our curiosity is stung!
United Kingdom
Atmosphere of the end of the evening for the Remember Monday. In a Regency style boudoir, they think back to the events of the day before. Some movements to give the illusion of a flashback, and presto! Here we are on the main scene plunge into chaos, with a crushed chandelier, sprawled on the side. After all the Capharnaus of the party, the scene is momentarily immersed in the dark, and we are back with the girls in the comfort of the boudoir, the next morning, wondering what could have happened the day before. On the costume side, we find the Bridgerton aesthetics and the corsets of the clip, between pink, pale blue and yellow. A living and ambitious staging, it seems.
Suisse
The Swiss staging seems to hold all its pride in its realization, made with a camera from the 70s, giving “travel” a cinematographic atmosphere, timeless and calm. This moment of grace is interrupted at the bridge by wind, flashes, smoke, before returning to calm and focusing on the lights of the phones of the future public to come. Zoé will be sitting, the gaze of the camera will be centered on her and will respond to each of her movements. An aerial and suspended experience for the one who succeeds Nemo.
Italy
It is the turn of the author that the author [Juliette NDLR] From these lines awaited impatiently. Lucio Corsi. Overall, the scenography remains the same as in Sanremo. Lucio carries his shoulder boler, begins his song on the piano and then goes to the guitar. Tommaso Ottomano (guitarist, directors of Lucio’s clips and co-author of the song that the artist almost considers a brother) is by his side on stage. Until then, everything is like in Sanremo. Except that … two giant speakers with retro aesthetics are present on stage. On TV, the service will appear to you under a sepia filter (as in archive images). So that non-Italophones can understand the words of “Volevo Essere a Duro” (by far one of the title forces), the text is subtitled in English. And above all, above all … he had promised it, he is there: the Harmonica solo! The first instrument played live for 25 years! In short: the staging is simple, authentic, elegant, like the artist. Bellissimo, concludes LiveBlog!
Spain
The longest day of rehearsals finally ends with Spain and Diva Melody. The song is not the only one to have been overhauled from Benidorm: the staging too. The performance is cut into three acts, each represented by a color. Violet first, red then white to finish. Five dancers (three men and two women) surround Melody and perform routines. The singer, on the other hand, wears a total black look, with a Fedora hat, waders and a dress decorated with points with the shoulders and the hips that give her, I quote, “the air of an orchid”. We are promised for a breathtaking moment over the last ten seconds, but Liveblog wanted nothing more to tell us. One thing is certain, the performance seems complex, structured and full of energy.
Conclusion
[À venir…]
For the first half of the second semi-final, all TV renderings seem correct to me overall, although it is perfectible for many. Some countries have taken up the concept of their scenographies from national selections to improve them, more or less. I note in particular a difference for the camera work for Lithuania, the addition of special effects and the last more static chorus for Latvia, as well as more smoke and lights for Montenegro. Four countries stand out following video extracts: Australia and its colorful mateled staging, Armenia and its apocalyptic treadmill, Austria with a black and white performance that greatly illustrates the song and Malta with its excessively crazy scenic art, assuming the attitude of Diva de Miriana Conte. My biggest disappointment of the day is Greece. The extract from his second rehearsal leaves me perplexed and visually, it does not highlight Klavdia or his proposal.
On the Big 5 side, it’s always a bit complicated to get an idea on paper when we don’t have. (The photos would not have helped me anyway, it is better to wait for the lives). That said, France and Italy are the countries that draw my attention. The sandstorm and the Harmonica solo is things that I want to hear and discover. Germany and the United Kingdom seem to have opted for interesting concepts, to see at the rendering. Spain and Switzerland seem somewhat abstract, difficult to imagine. The description did not make my little heart beat, but I only ask to be surprised.
See you tomorrow for new images and video extracts from the second rehearsals of the other half of the second semi-final!
