The trial of the murder of Auriane Laisné, 22, opens this Wednesday morning before the Assize Court of Aosta, in the north of Italy. A year after the facts, Italian justice intends to judge Sohaib Teima, the former friend of the victim, accused of having killed the young woman of Lyon origin in an abandoned chapel of the Val d’Aosta, before hiding his body there.
Auriane Laisné had been found lifeless on April 5, 2024, stabbed in the throat, in an isolated religious building, not far from the French border. His former companion had been arrested five days later in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon before being extradited to Italy, his country of Orgine.
The accused, who denies the facts, is prosecuted for assassination aggravated by premeditation and romantic relationship with the victim, as well as for concealment of corpse. The simplified request for procedure, filed by its lawyers, was rejected by Italian justice due to the severity of the charges.
The first day of hearing is devoted to investigators. The following dates will be set later, according to the Italian calendar, which does not provide for continuous hearings as in France.
The accused’s defense summoned around thirty witnesses.
