His name was Rei del Causse. A young bearded gypath followed by the Life Gyp’act program was found dead in Lozère on January 20. It is because of the inaction noted by its GPS tag that the Cévennes National Park teams and the bird protection league were alerted.
Veterinary analyzes have been practiced to discover the reasons for his death, but they remain uncertain to date. According to the press release published this Tuesday, May 6, “No hunting lead was found, the toxicological and virological analyzes were negative. The bird had good physical condition: well developed muscles, presence of fat“. “An internal sub-sternal hemorrhage has been detected, possibly following a fall, without clearly identified cause. Benign liver lesions have been observed, frequent in birds, but not responsible for death“continues the press release.
Over the three years of his life, the young raptor stole a lot, in the Lozérian gorges, but also to Belgium, Germany and to Poland.
