Sales activity – French pork market
The two markets of the week recorded a stable average price, which therefore remains at € 1.793. The needs seemed variously oriented, but all the lots found takers this week. Auction proposals are very tight around the average. Obviously, the volume of presentation of the pigs remains always adapted to the weeks to four days. This will still be the case next week
Evolution of slaughter weights – Uniporc zone
With one day less slaughter, the weights start upwards. With one day less, the slaughter activity fell by more than 60,000 pigs this week. Logically, slaughter reports weigh on weights, which start up fairly clearly, around 350 grams. With last week’s public holidays, 2024 and 2025 are now equally in number of days of slaughter, which makes it possible to compare their respective activity level. In accumulation, for the moment, the year 2025 records a increase of 0.25 % of the number of slaughter
European markets – Crack -up pigs
In Germany, slaughter activity should logically decrease. Some producers could hold their pigs to try to support prices. The increase in last week is the consequence of a balance again in favor of upstream. For its part, meat market reaches its annual peak. However, this dynamic will have seemed insufficient for an increase of +10 cents.
In Spain, the drop in slaughter volumes does not disrupt market balance, always guided by the lack of supply. Exporting opportunities to China emerge, without confirmation on volumes at the moment. The meat market stabilizes, with sales slightly lower than the previous week. Prices should remain stable, probably until the end of May. On the porcelet market, tension is strong to avoid rising prices.
In Belgium, prices on the meat market have not changed last week and the activity that remained moderate due to the holidays. The slaughter weights, still very high (+1.3 kg), stabilized this week. Germany’s progression has logically advanced the Belgian pork market.
In Italy, activity slowed down last week, while remaining positive. The demand remains supported by the April and May festivities, despite an unfavorable weather. The slaughterhouses retain a positive economic margin. Faithful in previous weeks, the Italian pork price is still progressing.
