change of day, explosive course with a revised line and prestigious teams at the start. Quimper and his Tour du Finistère 2025 dreams of a more nervous, more alive, more spectacular meeting. And try a risky bet: seduce the public on Friday. To succeed, the organization places the buses of runners at hand of enthusiasts.

This year, the Tour du Finistère changes its niche. No more traditional weekend at the end of May. Direction on Friday, in the middle of the afternoon, May 9. A necessary adjustment, says Marc Fayet, the race director. “The four days of Dunkirk were moved and fell on our usual date. We preferred to give way to avoid duplicates.” Result: the race leaves the weekend, and tries a bold blow. It is also integrated into a global regional offer, since in 4 days, from May 8 to 11 Brittany welcomes 4 rounds of the French FDJ Cup, including this Tour du Finistère 2025.
A meeting that like the other 3 of the weekend will be broadcast live on our website and our social networks.
This change of date had an unexpected effect: a raised sports set. Thanks to this earlier position in the calendar, Quimper attracts beautiful people. Prestigious teams such as Bahrain Victorious, Movistar or Q36.5 make their entry. “These teams had never come to us. There, they said yes right away”rejoices Marc Fayet.
With 18 teams committed, a record, and a more provided peloton than ever, the test takes on the appearance of an international classic. Some runners even recently shone on the Tour de France or Milan-San Remo. In short, it smells like the big fight.
On the grid of the big names have confirmed:
- Victor Lafay who raised his arms on the Tour of Italy and on the Tour de France
- The prodigy Paul Sexas which continues the podiums on the Tour des Alpes
- Bryan Coquard, the Cofidis sprinter is in leg
- Anthony Turgis: stage winner on the Tour de France 2024 and 2nd of Milan – San Remo
- or Brestois Olivier Le Gac, former world road champion
And on the road, it will rub. The course was revised: 30 kilometers less, less final circuit and an explosive novelty: the “29th km trophy”, this intermediate passage promises a first muscular grip.
Objective: to energize the race early, to promote escapes, and to avoid the too predictable scenario of a group sprint. “We did everything to explode, from the first rounds”, says Marc Fayet.
Less long, more nervous, more trashy. The Tour du Finistère 2025 wants sweat, gaps, a scoop for plume.
But the unknown of this edition is the public. A Friday, between noon and 5 p.m., people work. “We know that it changes everything, especially for cycling schools. Young people will not be there.” The bagadoù either, for lack of available musicians.
There remains the bet: that fans take their afternoon or make the bridge. And with regard to the crowd during the week on northern or Grand Est races, the organization wants to believe that the Breton public in bikes will be present in Quimper.
If the musical atmosphere decreases a notch, the spectacle refocus on the essential: the bicycle. The departure village, installed in the center of Quimper, promises a total immersion.
Presentation of runners, proximity to team buses, reinforced pancake stands and refreshment bar: here, no extended barriers as on the Tour de France. We touch the champions with the finger. “This contact is rare today. We keep it.”
With an audience to convince, a revised course and a dream set, this edition has everything of life -size test. But listening to Marc Fayet, risk taking is worth the detour: “We advance without a net. But with passion. And with the desire to show that bicycle, in Brittany, is not just a tradition: it is a popular and alive feast.”
A race to find live on our different digital channels (our site, the France.TV platform as well as on the YouTube channel and the Facebook account of France 3 Brittany).
