For the third year in a row, Mathieu Van der Poel tamed the northern hell on Sunday.
North Hell is the kingdom of Mathieu van der Poel. At 30, the Dutchman won, Sunday, April 13, for the third year in a row in Paris-Roubaix. The grandson of Raymond Poulidor becomes the third man to succeed in this feat, in 122 editions, after Octave Lapize (1909, 1910, 1911) and Francesco Moser (1978, 1979, 1980). And this, at the end of a hard duel with Tadej Pogacar.
For her first participation, the Slovenian world champion almost imitated the feat of Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt, winning female race on Saturday, which she was playing for the first time. But Tadej Pogacar paid his inexperience on the race, starting from the fault in a paved sector, 39 kilometers from the finish. The error cost him thirty seconds, which allowed Mathieu Van der Poel to spin, alone, to victory.
