The first tornado of the year was confirmed in Saint-Zénon, Quebec, at the end of April.
The meteorological phenomenon occurred in the small municipality in Lanaudière around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, said Environment Canada in its meteorological summary, with the help of data from Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP).
“It was classified EF1 [sur l’échelle de Fujita]with maximum winds estimated at 165 km/h, ”informed the government organization in its summary of the event shared on X on Monday afternoon.
The Northern Tornadoes Project said the tornado moved from west to east on a 6.74 km trajectory with a maximum width of 600 meters.

“Damage includes fallen trees and structural damage to barns and houses,” said Environment Canada.

Fortunately, no one injured was reported during the storm.
