The winger Fijien du Castres Olympique (Top 14) Josaia Raisuqe died Thursday morning in a car accident, struck by a train. The first elements of the drama were given by the public prosecutor.
Josaia Raisuqe, the faithful winger of Castres Olympique, died tragically this Thursday, May 8, 2025. The 30 -year -old lost his life by going to training. At the wheel of his vehicle, he was struck by a train up to a level crossing in the town of Saïx, where the CO training center is located.
The drama occurred around 8 am. The Public Prosecutor of Castres said that Josaia Raisuqe died “on the scene” of the accident. “From the first investigations, resulting in particular from the first testimonies collected, it appears that the vehicle would have crossed the security barriers and would then have been struck by the locomotive.”
-The levies from the train driver “are negative”
“The victim had just left the CO training center to go home to recover forgotten things,” said the prosecutor. An investigation “in search of the causes of death” was “immediately opened”, entrusted to the Castres research brigade and the Vielmur-sur-Agout brigade.
The first samples (blood alcohol level and narcotics) taken on the driver of the train “are negative”. The black box of the train will now be studied, with an investigation also on the proper functioning of the level passage. 21 passengers were on board this TER heading towards Toulouse, none of them was injured.
CO training was canceled in stride. “It was a boy radiating on and off the field which was a pillar of the Fijian community that we have at the club and to which we are very attached,” said Pierre-Yves Revol, the boss of the CO quoted in a press release, who added that the club will not make “no other comments”. If a tribute will be paid this weekend on all Top 14 and Pro D2 lands, the match scheduled for Castres and Clermont was postponed this Saturday.
