Traffic was interrupted on Boulevard Chave in Marseille this Tuesday, May 6 around 4:30 p.m. after the explosion of bottles. The intervention mobilized 30 firefighters and ten machines.
The Marseille firefighters battalion intervened on Chave boulevard, Tuesday May 6 around 4 p.m., learned BFM Marseille Provence from police source.
Called for an indefinite leak, the firefighters discovered at least four plastic bottles from 50cl at 1 and a half liter. The total number of bottles that have exploded is not known.
According to our information, soda plastic bottles contained aluminum and hydrochloric acid.
One of them was thrown on the gardenieres between the Georges bistro and the hand -free bakery, at the 117 boulevard Chave. According to some testimonies collected on the spot, “there was a smell of chlorine in the bakery at the time of the explosion,” said a client.

For the time being, it is impossible to know exactly how many bottles have really exploded. The number has continued to evolve over the minutes. No one was injured and no material damage is to be deplored.
At the height of the intervention, 30 firefighters and ten devices were mobilized. The national police arrived on site around 5 p.m. to secure the district.
The circulation of the T1 tram was partially interrupted in for 2 hours in both directions between the Blancarde and the Caillols. The service resumed around 7:30 p.m.
