Fans have been waiting for him for a very long time, and their patience has been rewarded. A little over two years after season 4, Netflix posted the ten episodes of season 5 of Youadapted from the novels signed Caroline Kepnes. After sowing panic – and a good package of corpses – in Los Angeles and London, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back in new York with Kate. The action resumes three years after their move in the big apple, and Joe will obviously twist again. These new episodes are also an opportunity to find characters previously seen in the series. So, who apart from Joe and Kate, what characters we can see and who are the big ones absent? Please note, the rest of this article contains spoilers.
The characters who return in season 5 of You
Beck
After having already resumed his role in season 4 of YouElizabeth Lail signs her return to the series, the time of Flash-Back of course! At the end of episode 5, we learn that Bronte/Louise (Madeleine Brewer) is actually a former student who rubbed shoulders Beck before her death. We therefore discover their link via a scene, then we can see Elizabeth Lail in the last episode during a hallucination of Louise.
Marian
The return of Tati Gabrielle was particularly expected from fans, especially since the actress had been photographed on the set. Marienne is present in episode 9 of this season 5 of You. The opportunity for Joe to discover that she is not dead, and for Marienne to go up the suspenders of Louise by revealing the true face of Joe.
Lady Phoebe
It is one of the few to have survived season 4: Lady Phoebe, embodied by Tilly Keeper, was present in the last salve. After exile in Thailand, she crossed Kate’s road in London when the latter came to visit Nadia.
Nadia
In the fourth salve, Nadia was trapped by Joe and Kate, who made him carry the hat for the death of Rhys Montrose. The young woman, played by Amy-Leigh Hickman, could take revenge (well, almost) in these new episodes.
In episode 7, several characters make short appearances via stories posted on social networks, following accusations against Joe. Here are the ones we can see:
-- Paco, the young neighbor of Joe in season 1
- Ethan, the former colleague of Joe at Mooney’s (played by Zach Cherry seen since in Severance) In season 1
- Anika, Peach’s best friend in season 1
- Dottie, the mother of Love and Fortie
- Sherry & Conrad, the influencers that Love encloses in the cage during season 3
These characters absent in season 5 of You
Quinn
If Elizabeth Lail has taken over the role of Beck during flashback time, this is not the case with Victoria Pedretti. The interpreter of Quinn is one of the great absent from this ultimate salvo, although Love appears in a scene already seen in fiction.
Ellie
Real fans of You know that before his role in Wednesday Jenna Ortega played the role of Ellie, a neighbor of Joe in the second season of You. Last year, the producers had revealed that the actress had to return but could not make herself available. Those who believed hard as iron at a return in season 5 were wrong: Jenna Ortega does not appear in the new episodes. The actress was certainly too busy on the set of season 2 of Wednesdaywhose teaser has just been revealed.
Peach et Candace
If Joe’s first victim, Beck, is entitled to a return for a flashback, this is not the case for two other striking victims of the series. Like Quinn, Peach and Candace do not appear in the last season of You, although they are mentioned.
Theo
We would have almost forgotten his existence without some research. Remember, in season 3, Theo (Dylan Arnold) ended up getting closer to Love, and was attacked by the latter. He ended well alive, but the actor did not resume his role for season 5.
Dr Nicky
Although it is mentioned on several occasions – and despite the introduction of his son Clayton as a secondary character – Dr. Nicky played by John Stamos does not appear in the ultimate salve of You. We know, however, that he ends up leaving prison, after Joe is found guilty of the murder of Beck.
Mr Mooney
Joe’s mentor does not make new appearances for a simple reason: his interpreter, Mark Blum, died in 2020.
