The National Observatory of Mountain Stations has just published its annual assessment for the 2024-2025 season. Winter proved to be satisfactory in stations with a frequentation similar to the previous season and an increase in crowds to the Nordic domains.

Despite the strong snowfall that once again laundered Alpine ski resorts this Thursday, April 17, the ski season soon was coming to an end.
The National Observatory of Mountain Stations, which has just published its pre-balance sheet of the season, confirms “A stable attendance compared to the past season“. France 3 Alps summed up its study in four key data for you.
The average occupancy rate of accommodation in mountain stations is 71 %, a figure “balanced on all massifs “ and similar to that of the previous season.
“Mountain stations have experienced a promising season start with a positive tributary dynamic from the Christmas 2024 (+3 points at 85 %) then during the 2025 winter holidays (+1 point at 84 %)“, estimates the onsm in his study.
Another trend observed: the increase in last minute reservations (52 %) and short stays (55 %) compared to the previous season. According to the National Observatory for Mountain Stations, this trend translated “special attention to vacationers to management of their budget“.
After two complicated winters, the Nordic domains record the best season of the last two years thanks to a very strong crowd during the Christmas holidays.
According to mountain professionals, requests for activity outside skiing are stable. Except for walking walks that have been very successful (judged up for 64 % of respondents).
Finally, the study dismantles an increase in European and extra-European customers in ski resorts, perceived more numerous than last year by 54 % of participants.
“The efforts to diversify and adapt the stations made for many years produce encouraging resultsconcludes Jean-Luc Boch, president of the National Association of Mayors of Mountain Stations. For spring holidays, attendance forecasts are encouraging: still sufficient snow in many stations, more spring weather conditions.“
