Sales continue to collapse in France in April

The registrations of the American manufacturer continued to fall in France in April, with a drop of almost 60% over a year, in an electric car that stagnates.

Tesla registrations continued to fall in France in April in April, with a drop of almost 60% compared to the same month a year ago, in a market for electric cars that stagnates. In full modernization of its range but potentially slowed down by the image of its boss Elon Musk, the American manufacturer of electric cars has seen its registrations drop by 44% in France since the beginning of 2025, with 7,556 vehicles sold.

The cars market was a decline of 5.64%, less than the previous month (-14.5%) with 139,000 cars registered, according to figures published Tuesday by the automotive platform (PFA). “We are on a worrying market level which is very low compared to the pre-Cavid period”commented to AFP Nicolas Le Bigot, interim managing director of PFA.

“In a context of economic uncertainty, the consume less, they save. All this is amplified by uncertainties linked to the trade war that Trump has delivered to all the countries of the planet, with customs duties which generate important macro-economic impacts at the global financial level and also affect the confidence of households “he adds. “All drops, and in this declining set, we have a market share of electric vehicles which stagnates at around 18%”he continued.

The withdrawal touches in particular Stellantis (-12% over a year). The Renault group takes up colors (+2%) and exceeds Stellantis in terms of volume (39,000 cars registered in April against 33,786). The number three, Volkswagen, fell 8.5%, slowed down by its Seat brands.
