(Beijing) China has ordered its airlines to suspend any aircraft receipt of the American manufacturer Boeing, against a backdrop for the intensification of the trade war with the United States, the Bloomberg news agency said on Tuesday.

US President Donald Trump imposed customs duties up to 145 % on a large amount of Chinese products. In response, the Asian giant requires 125 % retaliatory customs surcharge on imported American goods.
China has also asked the country’s airlines “to stop any purchase of equipment and spare parts for planes from American companies”, according to Bloomberg, which quotes people close to the file.
These orders were given by the Chinese authorities after the taxation by Beijing last week of its 125 %surcharges, according to the same source.
These surcharges do more than double the cost of planes and spare parts made in the United States and arriving on Chinese soil. In fact, they would therefore have imposed an additional cost that is difficult to bear for Chinese airlines.
According to Bloomberg, the Chinese government also plans to help carriers who rent Boeing aircraft and have to face higher costs.
Solicited, the Chinese Foreign Affairs and Boeing had not immediately responded to a request for AFP comments.
Donald Trump’s announcement of his customs rights campaign against imported products, presented as ahead of the American trade deficit, shaken the Globe stock markets and accentuated concerns for global growth.
The American president suspended Wednesday, and for 90 days, the so-called “reciprocal” customs duties going beyond 10 %. But it maintains a strong pressure on China.
The United States also granted a provisional exemption from surcharge on Friday on technological products, smartphones and computers in mind, as well as on semiconductors.
