Kaporal, Jennyfer … These ultra -popular fashion brands with the French have all brought the dust. Today, it is the turn of a famous brand of centennial shoes to be in danger.

After the ready-to-wear label Jennyfer, placed in compulsory liquidation last week, it is the turn of a famous secular French brand to undergo financial difficulties. Ultra popular with our elders, known for her know-how in the world of the shoe, she is not on her first try to get out of business. Indeed, it had already been placed in receivership in the past, and rather twice as a (literally), as our colleagues report LSA Conso. This brand of shoes adored by the French is none other than André.
The first receivership had been announced in 2020, the second in February 2023. She had changed her hand many times, passed by companies Vivarte, Spartoo, 1Monde9, Optakare, in the hope of changing his fatal destiny; But this third receivership augurs a more than uncertain future. Faced with this upheaval and ambient skepticism, the management of the brand has still expressed confidence: “Our shops, our corner at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris, as well as our website, remain open and fully mobilized to accommodate our faithful customers and customers with the same service and style requirement. Together, we build the future of New André, with determination and optimism.”
However, if the current leaders want to be reassuring about the future of remaining stores, experience has proven us that closings could quickly arrive without warning. As a reminder, the André store park had already been reduced by half two years ago, following the takeover operated by the Belgian company Optakare – Going from around fifty points of sale to 21.
