The 14th “around the book” show of April 6 in Ciadoux still attracted a host of visitors and readers. The councilors welcomed it and underlined their attachment to the demonstration which maintains its notoriety beyond the department.
In his speech, deputy Joël Aviragnet underlined the need for elected officials to defend and maintain funding for culture, including in rural areas: “It allows you to think and beyond everyday life, it allows humans to rise, and we can see on the planet that authoritarian regimes first suppress culture credits.”
Danielle Cazeneuve, president of the Ciadouzaine association organizer of the event with the initiative union reacts to a study giving an inventory of concern about the reading practices of the French in 2025.
What was your observation in Ciadoux compared to the conclusions of this study ?
Even if we had more readers than last year, we also see a distance from young people for reading from the 6th. The growing attraction of virtual worlds, and the widespread use of laptops, are certainly the causes, but there has been a transfer to retired readers.
What satisfactions do you withdraw from this 14th Book fair ?
We are happy with the success of the Japanese Hideyo Kaneko who continued to make manga portraits after the closure … and the fact that no author returned empty -hand. Another satisfaction with the testimonies of authors on the guest book and those of visitors because for the first time they could note their feelings or observations at the end of their passage. Besides, like the authors who hope to come back, they appreciate this manifestation.
What is your secret for the permanence of this attractiveness ?
The cohesion and experience of volunteer teams and the motivation of Guy Mothe, host of the monthly humorous writing workshops, who being both author and organizer, offers what we can improve to interest the public and make this cultural animation popular, without exceeding our little means.
