French actor and director Daniel Auteuil makes a remarkable return behind the camera and stages himself as a lawyer who tries to discover whether his client is guilty or not in The thread.
Freely adapted by Daniel Auteuil and Steven Mitz of Master Mô book de Jean-Yves Moyart, The thread The lawyer Jean Monier follows, played by Daniel Auteuil, who has as a client Nicolas Milik (Grégory Gadebois). The man is accused of having brutally killed his alcoholic wife. But Jean Monier is convinced that Milik is innocent and, in order to prepare the trial and the interrogations of the witnesses, he investigates.

Daniel Auteuil, the director, uses all the means at his disposal to transcribe the doubt that lives in his character. The actor’s face, filmed in close -up (especially during audiences) gradually expresses the uncertainty that wins him and the suspicions that end up gnawing at him.
