In detention at Termonde prison since his extradition in March 2024, Nordin El Hajjioui informed the Antwerp court on Wednesday morning of his absence at the hearing for medical reasons. His lawyers, Hans Rieder and Louis de Groote, also shone by their absence. The prosecutor requested a twelve -year prison sentence and a fine of 100,000 euros against the accused, considered to be the leader of a criminal gang specializing in cocaine and heavy weapons traffic, active between 2019 and 2020. The court will return his verdict on June 24.

Conversations between the criminal of Moroccan origin and his co -accused already sentenced to heavy prison sentences at the end of 2024, via the encrypted Sky ECC mail, were intercepted. In these exchanges, the acronym NWA frequently returned, hear “Never work Again” (never work again), which would be the nickname of Dikke Nordin. During a video interrogation since Dubai in 2021, the accused denied any involvement in this case and never used the Sky ECC application.

According to the prosecution, El Hajjioui would also be the sponsor of several acts of violence in the drug world. Before flying to Dubai via the Netherlands about ten years ago, the young resident of the Antwerp Dam district had been sentenced for drug trafficking. In the fall, Dikke Nordin will still have to appear in several other cases related to drug trafficking.
