With 14,500 m2 on three floors, Zara has just announced the next opening of her biggest store in the world, at “Meir Corner” in Antwerp. A move that would be part of the Spanish channel’s commercial strategy to open “spectacular” stores in all emblematic cities.
Antwerp, the fashion city
Known to be the Belgian (or even European) nucleus of fashion, Antwerp strikes hard with this new large -scale real estate project: the Meir Corner, in place of the old Proximus building. A project that is part of the Flemish city’s desire to revitalize its city center. Zara is already present in one of the biggest shops on the shopping street, but has taken the opportunity to move to settle this gigantic space soon.
Meir Corner
At the corner of the Meir and the Jezusstraat, this titanic store will spread over an area of 14,500 m2, divided into three floors. A commercial area of such magnitude, necessarily, it has a cost and only a brand like Zara can afford it. The rent would amount between 20 to 30 million euros per year. But such a project perfectly enters into the commercial strategy of the Spanish brand which wishes to establish itself in all the major cities of the world with spectacular stores, to counter the trend for online purchase. So far the largest Zara store in the world was located in Rotterdam, opened last year.
The opening of the Zara store in the Meir Corner will take place between the end of 2026 and early 2027.
