Rudi Garcia wonders about the best defensive formula for the Red Devils. Between experiments, absent and young talents, the coach seeks balance without sacrificing the offensive potential of Belgium.
Questioned by RTBF Sport, Rudi Garcia shared its reflections on one of the most sensitive projects in Belgium: defense. No question of a miracle solution according to him, but rather to find the right alchemy between the profiles available. “You will not need a magic wand, you will have to find the right association.” underlines the coach, determined to build on concrete.
Among the tracks explored, Garcia does not spread the idea of a three -time defense. But this choice has a cost: “It means that we would be forced to remove an offensive element. And when we see the potential of Belgium in this area, it would be a shame.” A tactical dilemma which clearly shows the abundance of offensive talents in the Belgian workforce, but also the complexity of making solidity cohabit behind and power in front.
-The coach also returns to the recent match against Ukraine, rich in lessons according to him. He underlines the positive points of the first period, including the performance of the Duo Mechele-de Winter. “I was happy, especially in the first period of the duo against Ukraine.” But a void of twelve minutes has changed everything. Not just because of the defense, he said, but the whole team.
Rudi Garcia, however, keeps all the options in mind. He recalls that’Arthur Theateabsent during this meeting, remains a natural candidate for a role in defense. He also evokes the possible emergence of young players or the return of more experienced elements.
“It’s up to me to find the right formula.” he simply concludes. No miracle solution, but a clear idea: to adapt to the forces of Belgian football and make the most of the available players.
