“What you have done goes beyond the sporting result”: Isle-Jourdain celebrates its young basketball champions

Tuesday, April 29, the wedding hall of the town hall of Isle-Jourdain resonated with pride, applause and smiles. The young basketball players of the U13, women’s U15 and Masculine U15 categories were received by the municipality during a reception organized in their honor after their Gers 2025 Cup.

Francis Idrac, the mayor, accompanied by sports assistant Frédéric Bolla and elected officials, praised the values ​​carried by these young athletes: commitment, team spirit and fighting spirit. “What you have accomplished,” he said, “exceeds the sporting result. You have worn the colors of Isle-Jourdain high with pride, respect and talent”.

The women’s U15s, crowned champions of Gers, impressed their spectacular rise, winning 74 to 39 after starting the final with a 14 -point handicap, a demonstration of solidarity and collective mastery.

Individual performance

The male U15, also champions, offered a breathtaking finale, winning the victory in the last seconds of a suspense match, under the eyes of an audience held in suspense until the end.

The U13 boys, finalists, were also honored for their exemplary career and their group spirit hailed by all the elected officials present. Two young players were also distinguished for their individual performances as part of the Michel-Commers: Mahé, trophy winner, and Chano, who finished in the 3rd^e place.

Beyond the results, the municipality wanted to express a particular recognition to coaches, volunteers and supervisors, club pillars, as well as parents, omnipresent throughout the season: “Without you, none of this would be possible. Your commitment is the most beautiful proof that amateur sport is based on human, strong and sustainable values,” said the mayor. The evening ended in a friendly atmosphere around a buffet, exchanges and many souvenir photos.
