Between the walls of a classic Parisian timber apartment, the designer of Georgian origin Keti Toloraia A second home was created where the paths and influences of its creativity are revealed. It is a free and narrative setting that evokes its history and, with the essence of its design. “For me, the house is synonymous with harmony, an essential aspect of well-being and the reflection of my nature”says the creative. She moves into this interior of the 7th arrondissement of Paris about four years ago during the pandemic. “When I saw it for the first time, I immediately thought that it was exactly the space I needed to exhibit the work of our studio”she says. “What attracted me the most was its excellent proportions, which allow me to transform it in different ways. I think it has a unique context and character. »»
In this high ceiling apartment, the creative has printed her paw, graciously mixing rooms from Rooms Studio with older parts collected around the world. We sail between the different spaces, not always knowing how to identify what surrounds us. To look more closely, the wise eye recognizes Noguchi, vintage ikea pieces, Italian furniture from the 1960s, a play by Maria Pergay, a major figure in the field of French decorative arts, specialist in the 1970s in the 1970s in Stainless steel. “I like to create space so that objects seem to have always existed in this place”specifies Keti. From this interior, there is a taste for eternity, the order of the state of grace, a feeling of recomposed past that is found in the lines and the inspirations of the furniture that it imagines. If Keti lives mainly in Paris, she visits Tbilisi very regularly where Rooms Studio is based, which she co -founded in 2007 with her friend Nata Janberidze. All their design parts are also produced in Georgia. Together, they work on different projects around the world, from hotels to private interiors, including restaurants, shops, exhibitions.

-Their deeply intuitive approach favors simplicity and authenticity. Their design shapes personal answers to the world around them. “Our style is a mixture of Georgian cultural heritage and contemporary design. It combines eastern and Western influences, reinterpreting historical motifs in modern forms. Our work is intuitive and fluid, evolving collection after collection, with an accent on functional and symbolic design »explains Keti. Their age -free furniture is available in a palette of natural materials, such as wood, stone and metal.
In Milan, this year, on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile and its unmissable design Week, the duo presented a repertoire of beds, six elementary rooms full of character and history. The bed is the first room that Keti admits to having made, for her in her early days. We also found some of their creations in the Lanvin fashion store. “Fashion and design both allow people to show who they are and what their cultural ties are. This personal expression adds variety and depth to these two universes ”Keti announces. Currently, they are working on various projects under development, hotels in Georgia, some residential projects in Paris. They also provide for the opening of a Rooms studio showroom in London.
