As part of the French course and the theme “Is Man Master of Nature?” », photographer Vincent Munier came to meet 5th and 4th grade students supervised by their teacher Corinne Duflos and the librarian Prisca Rudatis.
A theme that the middle school students first explored with Corinne Duflos, notably through works by Jack London as well as Vincent Munier's book “The Child and the Wild Animals” published in 2023. a work which allowed them, for the majority, to discover the Vosges wildlife photographer known and recognized well beyond the borders of the department. We will briefly recall that his film “La Panthere des Neiges”, co-directed with Marie Aniguet and released in 2021, received the César for best documentary film in 2022.
This Friday, December 20, he was invited to talk about his journey and share his passion for wildlife photography with the students of Haie Griselle. From his first slightly blurry photos to these splendid images that he regularly reveals at trade fairs, exhibitions and other conventions, Vincent Munier has “never stopped learning how to approach wild animals” as he says so well. even. This is what allowed him to cross paths and sometimes even the gaze of the famous panther and many other species during his photographic trips to Tibet, the Canadian great north or the Russian taiga.
Of course, the college students captivated by his stories were also able to ask him several more technical or more personal questions about his adventures and his way of understanding nature. Finally, Vincent Munier offered each student No. 59 of “100 photos for Press Freedom” published by Reporters without Borders and dedicated to the Vosges photographer. A work and an encounter which will undoubtedly inspire the lucky ones who were in the information room that morning, and who can thank Mesdames Duflos and Rudatis for this beautiful and enriching initiative.
